During the State of California's 2021-2029 housing element cycle for the SCAG region, the City of Torrance is required to create opportunities for 4,939 new housing units, a mixture of market rate and affordable. Failure to do so could result in everything from fines to the city to resident's inability to get permits for home improvement (including kitchen and bathroom remodels). The Torrance Del Amo site and its future residential development helps the city stay compliant with State Laws.

This community will also bring approximately 300 permanent jobs, along with 100 indirect jobs to Torrance- contributing to higher employment, a higher tax base, more revenue for the city, and an overall stronger Torrance.

The residents of Del Amo will be aspirational and affluent, directly spending approximately $7+ million annually into Torrance's business. This is a tremendous boost of buying power within the community, with plenty of shops and restaurants within easy walking or biking distance. Rent relief from affordable housing options, also gives more spending power to residents, by reducing rent costs.
